We have liked the building itself, the peaceful and green surroundings.
Our room was a luxury twin one, but one of the blankets (not duvets!) was in a bad condition. The sink in the bathroom was an "Ideal Standard" and gave the sensation of a bargain that seemed very inappropriate with the pretended standard of the hotel. Breakfast was "poor English breakfast". Very small portions, anyway on the menu mushrooms meant one mushroom, sausages meant one small piece, tomatoes meant one half tomato, salmon with scrambled eggs meant a few pieces of fish and about two or three spoons of eggs in the middle of a big plate. And we do not talk about caviar, just scrambled eggs! But the worst was that nobody in the breakfast room seemed to pay attention to us, we had to wait a lot to place the orders and then for the plates with what we have ordered. The people were very late in bringing the plates with the buffet things when they got empty, so there was nothing to eat in the meantime. The hotel was maybe a weekend one for some frequent customers, but that was rather an inconvenience for us. About the location, we do not recommend the hotel for anybody interested in visiting the city as it is far enough (10 minutes by car) and taxi fare is between 8 and 10 pounds.

Decore , Service , Presentation though some common rooms needed high cleaning & more attention to detail , Location was paramount to my needs & I was a little disappointed at not having a souvenier or trinket to remind me of my stay. Generally I was happy to have had the chance to stay at Prestonfield House .
My wife & I have worked in the Health System in Australia in both the Cleaning & Engineering Services & we noted some concerns to both criteria .

The opulent decor throughout Prestonfield House, with its fine velvet furnishings and captivating antique art, creates an enchanting atmosphere. The accessible areas were easy to navigate and perfect for seniors like myself.
More comfortable seating in public areas, please.
